Mr. & Mrs. Chester New brough established Sunset in 1957 as a Memorial Park perpetual care cemetery.Sunset has approximately 60 acres of which 25 acres have been developed. At the entrance of Sunset Memorial Gardens, displays a beautiful 10ft. statue of Jesus with arms outstretched, welcoming all families into Sunset. Sunset Memorial Gardens has two beautiful Garden of Angels for our baby internments, four Garden Mausoleums with beautiful granite features. Garden of Resurrection, The Lords Supper, Garden of the Cross and Garden of Devotion. Sunset has a beautiful inside chapel, which was expanded and was completed in 1996. We have three Community mausoleums next to the chapel, which are sold. We have several private estates. Sunset Memorial Gardens performs approximately 230 burials a year. We recently opened a Pet Cemetery in 2001, which has been well received in the community. Many families have told us, that Sunset is very peaceful, quiet and serene setting and that is why they like coming here. We have a Christmas Tree of Remembrance were families come in and purchase red velvet bows for $6.00 or more in memory of their loved ones. All monies are donated to the Hope House, which is a transitional shelter for abused women and children. Sunset Memorial has beautiful floral arrangements for loved one’s graves. Families may call or come into the office and select a floral arrangement of their choice. We also have the candles for the vesperlites for families to purchase. It is a beautiful sight to ride through Sunset on Christmas Eve and see all the candles burning in the vesperlites.
