Greenlawn was established 1939, with the first burial occurring in 1940. The cemetery consists of 67 acres and is divided into 12 sections. A beautiful stonewall marks the entrance into the cemetery. The different sections, or gardens, each have a unique feature. There is the Garden of Christianity, the Garden of Gethsemane, in which there is a statue of Jesus is praying, the Garden of Peace and Hope, in which stands a statue of an angel, the Garden of the Good Shepard, which features a statue of Jesus with a lamb, the Well of Samaria, that contains a wishing well, the Garden of the Cross, with hedges cut in the shape of a cross, the Temple of all Faiths Mausoleumm – which has space for 576 entombments -, the Garden of Love, which holds the lawn crypts for veterans, the Garden of Devotion, which features lawn crypts for civilians and depicts a statue of Sarah and Abraham, constructed in 1996, as well as two veteran’s sections, complete with an Avenue of Flags. A pet section was also recently added to the cemetery. There are many birds and animals that inhabit Greenlawn’s park-like setting. A huge pond in the cemetery is home to many ducks and geese, which have nestled and laid eggs here for many years. Some deer have been sighted running through the park, along with turkeys strutting by. We have even seen a bear strolling along Greenlawn’s grounds.
